Lostcoast Maine Coons is a small home based cattery on the Northern California central coast, just north of Santa Cruz. We both grew up with cats in our households but it wasn’t until we met our first Maine Coon (the resident cat at a local beauty supply store) that we became interested in the breed. After meeting Jelly the store resident, a beautiful brown tabby boy, we began to attend local cat shows to see what Maine Coons really looked like.

During a TICA show in a nearby town, I was lucky enough to meet Laura and Sharon Cunningham of Coonyham Maine Coons who shared their knowledge of the breed and encouraged me to come to cat shows not just as a spectator, but as an exhibitor. Although originally planning to acquire a pet Maine Coon cat, I ended up being entrusted with Coonyham Dylan, a beautiful blue classic tabby show alter and Coonyham Makena, a flashy brown classic tabby with high white. A few shows later, I was hooked on cat shows and Maine Coons!

We think Maine Coons are one of the best cat breeds as they are active, affectionate, highly interactive and devoted. Our cattery’s goal is to breed healthy, socialized companions that conform to current TICA and CFA standards. To continue to maintain these goals, we plan to remain a small cattery to enable quality time for our breeding cats and kittens. We do not cage our cats or kittens and our kittens are handled and played with from birth.

Our cats are actively shown in both TICA and CFA to make sure that we are meeting the standards of both associations. At the shows, we receive feedback on our progress from the judges as well as other Maine coon breeders. All our cats and kittens are TICA and CFA registered.

Our adult cats receive routine medical care and are tested for FeLv/FIV, vaccinated against FVRCP and screened for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) via DNA testing and echocardiogram, Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), Hip Dysplasia (HD) and are OFA certified as Fair, Good or Excellent hip joint confirmation. Our kittens are sold with a health guarantee, and a complete medical, vaccination history, and are negative for the HCM DNA mutation (MyBPC3).
