About Our Cattery

We are a small to medium sized cattery that does not cage our cats. Our kittens are raised underfoot in our bedroom, which we believe allows for the optimal socialization. Once the kittens reach between 8 & 9 weeks old they are allowed to roam freely in the house with the females and any alters we may have.

Our cats & kittens are raised with our two young Golden Retrievers, Cassie & Charlie.  As you can see from the pictures, the cats adore the dogs.

We believe that health and disposition are of utmost importance. All kittens receive a check up at our vets prior to leaving for their new homes. We provide a Health Guarantee with all kittens. We have a contract that we ask all new owners to sign which give them the Health Guarantee for their new addition and is requiring that the kitten be spayed or neutered by the age of 8 to 9 months if it is not already spayed or neutered before leaving. We also do not promote or agree with de-clawing and we ask that the kitten/cat not be de-clawed. Please see www.declawing.com to learn more. In our contact we also state that the kitten/cat be kept indoors and only allowed outdoors under supervision and on a leash. A happy, healthy and live cat is one that is kept indoors.

Kittens are usually able to go to their new homes between 12 & 14 weeks of age. Kittens are litter pan trained and have their distemper vaccinations by this age. Kittens are litter pan trained and have their distemper vaccinations by this age. On occasion we will have young adults or retired breeders at a lower adoption fee.

We started our love for Maine Coons with 2 spayed females we adopted as pets and showed as alters and still currently own.   We are asked many times if we think males make better pets than females and we have to say that we believe that is a personal choice.  We love the females just as much as the males and believe that both make wonderful additions to families.

Our breeding cats are tested at Ohio State University Vet Hospital by a Board Certified Cardiologist. Screening for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a recommended method to aid in reducing the incidence of this genetic condition. Please know that breeders cannot guarantee that their cats will not have this condition, but Coonbitzky Maine Coons is making every effort to reduce the risks.

Please feel free to contact us through EMAIL or phone at 614-309-4333 if you are interested in the Maine Coon or one of our kittens. Many times we have a waiting list for a specific color and or sex. If you are flexible we may be able to place a  kitten with you sooner. Please check out our NEWS page for information on available kittens and upcoming litters.
